Palm Desert, California is home to Monumental Windows and Doors, but there’s also a hidden gem in the neighborhood that we’ve had the pleasure of working with for many years. Today we’d like to recognize Crescent Glass—a custom glass dealer offering everything from glass floors, to skylights, to luxury home curved glass windows and doors.
Crescent Glass was founded in 1989 by a group of tight-knit friends in Salt Lake City, Utah. A few years later, after some initial success, they brought their unique services to Southern California. For over 30 years, Crescent Glass has contributed to some of the most luxurious real estate developments in the world.
We spoke with James Linnell, Crescent Glass Manager, about his time with the company. “By the early 90s we had two large custom homes at The Vintage Club and one up in Mirada. They were all very high-end projects. Architect Guy Dreier felt like there was no other local company that could handle the complexity of what was being designed. Since then we’ve been doing work all over the Coachella Valley country clubs. And now we’re really trying our best to stay local because the construction market out here is really booming right now,” says Linnell. “The hot spot right now is all of the Madison Club real estate out in La Quinta. There are so many celebrities building houses out there. And money is definitely no object.”
The Perfect Partnership: Monumental and Crescent Glass
Monumental cherishes all of our dealer relationships, and we are always looking for ways to help them prosper. Crescent Glass was dealing products for other companies in the 1980s. But, Linnell notes, these companies weren’t always the right fit.
“We were in the market for another supplier who carried a high-end product. That’s when we received an email from the team at Monumental. People began to really like their products. In general, there were three things that we immediately appreciated: they had competitive pricing, better lead times, and they were more local.” After a while, architects in the Palm Desert area began to see more of Monumental’s products in luxury homes. The common denominator? Crescent Glass.
Advantages of Working with Monumental
When asked about some of the advantages of working with Monumental, Linnell states that he can really appreciate the fact that it’s a family-owned business, devoid of any corporate ties like larger companies. This, in turn, makes the manufacturing process a lot smoother for both dealers and architects.
“While working with other companies, their quoting process for dealers was complicated,” says Linnell. “Monumental’s paperwork system is so much easier to deal with. We send in our product list and they send the quotes right back to us. The products get to us really fast too. We have that friendship and cooperation between our companies. We don’t step on each other’s toes. We take care of each other. It’s just a great relationship.”
What Does the Near Future Look Like for Crescent Glass?
“The forecast is absolutely incredible. The projects we’re working on now will probably bring us one of the most profitable years in our company’s history. We have picked up so much work that we’re getting nervous about having enough labor to get all these projects done in a timely manner.”
Whatever the future may bring for Crescent Glass, Monumental is happy to be on board for more spectacular real estate projects. If you’re a new homeowner, architect, or dealer, visit us here to see some of your options. You can also find out about our latest developments in our 2021 Brochure.
